Introduction

Welcome to Team 4469! We are excited that you have decided to join our team. This handbook contains the key policies, team information, expectations of Team 4469, and any other information you may need in your time on the team. Team 4469 finds success by having engaged and participating students. Every student’s commitment and responsibility to upholding team standards allows the team to run smoothly each year. If you have any questions that the handbook does not address, please bring those to team leadership.

Mission Statement

A student led team that embodies a positive environment where members apply and grow their academic knowledge toward practical solutions, and collaborate within a high output, fast-paced team.

About

Thomas Jefferson High School’s FIRST Team 4469 – Raider Artificial Intelligence Division – is an extracurricular club at the high school. The team is open to any and all students attending TJHS or an area high school that does not have their own team. With adult mentors and volunteers, Team 4469 builds a robot to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) every year. Robotics is more than technical skills; students have the opportunity to learn fundamentals of leadership, marketing, communication, business, etc. More than the success in competition, Team 4469 cares that the students grow both academically, socially, and intellectually and realize the value of a good education.

FIRST Mission Statement

"To transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders." — Dean Kamen, Founder, FIRST

FIRST’s mission is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
